Château MALAGAR
Located on the verdant hillsides overlooking the Garonne River, Château Malagar is a unique place where literary history meets winemaking heritage.Formerly the family property of François Mauriac, who inherited it in 1927, this estate deeply inspired the illustrious writer. Today, while the residence belongs to the Region, the vineyard is in the hands of Jean Merlaut, who has been dedicated to continuing the winemaking tradition since acquiring it in 2004. Nicknamed the “Gironde Tuscany,” the Malagar terroir benefits from beautifully exposed slopes where the vines thrive on clay soil facing the Landes forest. Working the land is carried out with rigor and passion, perpetuating the spirit of the estate. Bridging history and an exceptional landscape, this “author’s vineyard” gives life to wines of character, reflecting a highly inspiring land.
